Inspired by the resilience, grace, and intrigue of the six queen consorts of Henry VIII, our handcrafted herbal teas are a tribute to the powerful women who shaped an era - and the herbs that would have flavoured their world.

Introducing… Gentle Dove: Jane Seymour herbal tea infusion 🕊️

Jane Seymour was the third wife of Henry VIII and reigned as queen (though never formally crowned) from May 1536 until her death in October 1537 following the birth of her son, Edward. Interestingly, Jane served as a lady in waiting to both of Henry’s previous wives. One can only imagine how she felt about marrying a man who had killed his previous wife only 11 days earlier 🤯 Jane developed a loving relationship with Henry’s estranged eldest daughter, Mary. She was also exemplary at needlework which was reportedly beautiful!

The Gentle Dove blend is inspired by Jane’s compassion, nurturing spirit and chastity 💘 As with all my blends, each herb was available and utilised in Tudor England and has a symbolic connection to Queen Jane 💙

A very Tudor-filled couple of days in Hever! 👑🌹

I headed down to @hever_castle last week to visit the beautiful childhood home of Anne Boleyn and soak up some history, drop off some Six Queens Tea Co. samples, and enjoy some brilliant talks from @drowenemmerson, @kateemccaffreyhistorian and @tracy.borman ☕️📜

There’s something rather magical about walking through the same place where Anne Boleyn spent part of her childhood, especially while building a tea company inspired by the six queens of Henry VIII 🌿👑

Introducing… Witch: Anne Boleyn herbal tea infusion 🕯️

Anne Boleyn was the second wife of Henry VIII and reigned as queen from 1533 until her execution in 1536. Pursued by the King for over six years, he would ultimately break with the Catholic Church to marry her and instigate the English Reformation. Anne’s fall was just as dramatic as her rise - she was convicted of treason (with almost non-existent evidence) just 3 years into her reign.

The Witch blend is inspired by Anne’s intellect, fierce wit and ambition… and maybe a hint of sorcery ✨ As with all my blends, each herb was available and utilised in Tudor England and has a symbolic connection to Queen Anne 💚

Reading prep for The History Festival at @hever_castle next week 👀📕

I am so excited to be going to Anne Boleyn’s childhood home for the very first time 😍 How fortunate that it coincides with @tracy.borman giving a talk on her new novel The House of Boleyn!

I am not usually a big reader of historical fiction, but I could not put this book down. Set at Hever Castle, the story is told from multiple perspectives including different members of the Boleyn family and the people who served them.

Borman does a fantastic job bringing Hever to life and I LOVE her interpretation of the characters (big shout out to Jane Boleyn!)

All you Tudor enthusiasts need to get your hands on this book!

Introducing… Fortaleza: Catherine of Aragon herbal tea infusion 🍊

Catherine was the first wife of Henry VIII and reigned as Queen of England from 1509 until 1533. She was the longest serving of Henry’s queens and was known for her strong faith and courage. Although the King had their marriage annulled, Catherine never accepted this and referred to herself as Queen of England for the remainder of her life.

The Fortaleza blend is inspired by Catherine’s resilience and determination. As with all my blends, each herb was available and utilised in Tudor England and has a symbolic connection to Queen Catherine 💛

Ingredient spotlight: Marigold 🌼

Featured in the Anne of Cleves blend called Prosperity, this little flower is more than just a pretty face!

In Tudor times, marigold was used to make garlands and posies and was also used to treat skin irritation, digestive issues and fever. Today, marigold benefits may include skin healing and antiseptic/anti-inflammatory properties! The flower has also been used to help treat conjunctivitis and sore throat 🤒

Lavender is featured in our Catherine Howard blend called Wild Rose 🌹

Did you know that this beautifully fragrant and floral herb was used in Tudor times for a variety of functions? The Tudors used it in clothing to prevent moth damage, scattered it in beds to deter vermin and hung it in bags to freshen the air! Lavender was also smoked with tobacco and was a popular conserve ingredient.

Today lavender is a popular herb to help combat insomnia and anxiety, and may also assist with headaches, acne and burns! 😮

Ingredient spotlight: Mint

Mint, featured in the Jane Seymour blend called Gentle Dove, had many uses in Tudor times! This herb was used in the house to freshen the air and repel flies and mice, and was also used for its medicinal qualities. Mint was applied directly to bee stings, burns and tooth aches to reduce swelling and pain. It was also consumed to combat indigestion, bad breath and stomach/ear aches! 😮

Today, mint is recognised as having many possible health benefits. These include improving IBS, relieving indigestion, decreasing pain from breastfeeding and masking bad breath.

Spiritually, mint is associated with prosperity, purification, protection, and promoting inner tranquility 😌
